Residents and visitors to Sarasota & Her islands marvel at the big-city amenities found in this relaxed community. That's why we call this place "Florida's Cultural Coast."
John Ringling of the Ringling Brothers Circus started it all in the 1930s, when he built one of Sarasota’s finest treasures, now known as The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art.
In addition to the Ringling Museum, Sarasota is home to an opera, ballet, and symphony orchestra, as well as theatres, art galleries and a vibrant community of artists. The majestic purple Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall adds more color to shimmering Sarasota Bay—designed by William Wesley Peters of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, the Van Wezel hosts free music nights, Friday Fest on the Bay, as well as big concerts and theatrical productions.
Living and breathing culture, Sarasota and Her Islands offers visitors an eclectic sampling of the arts.
